Mission Moroto Stories: Children’s Houses

Five years ago, Rebekah had some children whom the mission didn’t have room to take in. They were desperate, so they would come to the mission during the day to eat and play and then go back to sleep in the bush at night.

One day, she posted a photo of some of them drinking their maize porridge and asked for prayer for them. One of the mission’s Facebook friends commented, “We all should come together and help Rebekah build a house for these children. I’ll give $1,000 right now. Surely, some of you all out there will help.”

Sure enough, in just one day, the money was raised for one children’s house, and construction began.

The contractor came to Rebekah and said, “Madam, it would make much more sense economically and for the workers to build two children’s houses together at the same time.”

She replied, “But I only have funds for one.”

He replied, “God will send the money. We will build two houses.”

And they did.

One day, Rebekah posted a photo of a double rainbow arched over the two houses under construction and commented, “Such a beautiful double rainbow! I couldn’t believe it! It doesn’t escape me that the double rainbow is right over where we are building our new children’s house and praying for a second one! God’s promises never fail! Praising Him!”

Shortly afterward, the money was raised for the second house.

Today, we have seven boys’ houses and seven girls’ houses. Praise God! And we have no children who have to go sleep in the bush at night because we don’t have room.

Every child has a bed, mattress, blanket, footlocker, two sets of clothes, three hearty meals a day, spiritual and academic education, and so much more.

Thank you, donors and sponsors. Your reward is great in heaven!
