and I will preach to them, also.

That is why I came.” – Jesus

Domestic Evangelism: 1982 – 2002

July 21, 1982 marked a drastic turning point in the young life of Matt Bullen. On that night he was a troubled 16-year-old listening to an anointed 22-year-old evangelist preach the word of God at a youth camp in the mountains of New Mexico, USA. Suddenly the Holy Spirit ignited an inferno of spiritual hunger in his soul and he gave himself wholly to Jesus that night. That flame has only grown more ferocious with the passing of years.
Matt went back home to his high school of 2500 students and began to witness and preach and in the next two years over 300 teens came to Christ and Matt began preaching everywhere the Lord opened a door.
Matt remembers walking up and down the mountains near his boyhood home all night crying out to God to use him.
He attended Bible college and met his soon to be wife, Lisa. She was saved from a terrible childhood at age 13 and went on to win many to Christ in her high school and served as a leader in her church’s youth ministry before attending Bible college. She was and remains to this day a mighty prayer warrior and preacher. They met and began serving in youth evangelism and seeing many souls saved. They married in 1985 and became evangelists at the age of 18 and 19. In the next 18 years they spoke to thousands and discipled many who are serving the Lord around the world in ministry today. Matt and Lisa also raised 5 children during this time and some of them now work in the ministry with their parents.

Pastorate: 2003 – 2009

At the age of 38 Matt felt God’s call to be a church planter. Over the next 6 years his family planted 4 churches in the Houston, Texas, USA area. The Bullens pastored, counseled, and trained pastors and deacons. They loved this ministry and assumed they would finish out their lives pastoring in the U.S. But they could’ve had no idea what God was going to do next.

Missions: 2008 – 2013

In 2008 God dropped a 13-year-old Liberian orphan girl on Matt and Lisa’s doorstep named Mercy whom they subsequently adopted. She weighed 48 lbs. and was dying. This experience opened the Bullen family’s eyes to the plight of orphans and to the heartbeat of God for the nations. Today, Mercy is a beautiful, healthy girl and the inspiration for our Mercy’s House project in her home country of Liberia, West Africa.
Out of this experience the Bullens founded Mission Critical International and began to travel extensively ministering to orphans and went on to adopt 3 more orphans and help over 35 Colombian orphans get adopted by Christian families in the U.S. Later, two of their biological daughters, Rebekah and Brooke, became full-time missionaries. Rebekah now has her own orphanage, Mission Moroto, in Uganda, Africa. Brooke lived and worked in Bogota, Colombia with her Colombian husband Oscar for 3 years and now work for Compassion International USA.

Global Evangelism: 2013 – Present

Matt & Lisa have become globally sought-after speakers. Matt, Lisa, their daughter Rebekah, and son, Luke are the founders of Mission Critical International. Matt is known as a pastor of pastors here and abroad and an encourager of the body of Christ at large. He speaks in men’s and women’s conferences, preaches in churches, schools and prisons, and holds citywide gospel crusades around the world. Since 2020, Matt, Lisa, and their daughter Rebekah have been blessed with a huge revival ministry in the remote and desolate region of Uganda called Karamoja with over 1000 unreached villagers saved and baptized in 2023 alone. God continues to bless the heart-cry of this family who began ministering together nearly 40 years ago.
