Sagal Joseph

Welcome to the family Sagal Joseph!

Sagal Joseph showed up at the mission one day in spring of 2022 begging for food. His only living relative, his grandmother, was in the hospital dying of AIDS and she told him, “Go to Mission Moroto. They will help you.”

He walked the 7 Kilometers (3.5 miles) to the mission and was nearly dead when he arrived. He wanted food to take back the 7 Kilometers to the hospital but Rebekah knew he would faint on the way so she just kept him and he has been here ever since.

He has found a family and a home where he can be safe at Mission Moroto

Amiyo Charles

Welcome to the family Amiyo Charles!

After preaching in two remote villages on Wednesday, the pastors took us to a nearby hovel of huts. We crawled through layers of makeshift barricades of sticks and thorns in an attempt to keep raiders out.

We filed past multiple fresh graves of those recently killed by violence and/or hunger. Deep inside we found a dying emaciated grandmother and Charles’ little brother Michael taking care of her. Charles had gone to live on the streets and beg for food for the boys and their dying grandmother.

One of the team members at Mission Moroto went searching for Charles and finally found him and brought him home. The pastors will now care for the grandmother in her final days and little Michael and Charles are home safe at Mission Moroto

We are praying for more sponsors for these precious children.

Lomokol Peter

Welcome to the family Lomokol Peter!

Peter and his three siblings were brought to Rebekah at Mission Moroto by Pastor Grace who is a fellow soldier in Christ and dear friend.

Their mother had died when Peter was born and their father had been killed shortly afterward. Peter was in and out of an orphanage for babies that helps malnourished children but are unable to keep them long term so when he would be sent back to his village he would become malnourished again and the cycle would continue. His older siblings had been sent to live in various different locations or on the street.

Since they had nowhere else to go and were severely malnourished, Pastor Grace begged Rebekah to take them in and care for them. Peter has recently become strong enough to start walking as he is receiving the daily nutrition his little body needs. They are all together as a family and safe at home now at Mission Moroto

We are praying for more sponsors for these precious children.

Lokodoh Tabitha Tiamoe

Welcome to the family Lokodoh Tabitha Tiamoe!

Sisters Lokodoh Tabitha Tiamoe and Lomokol Lois Apalodou were brought to Rebekah one Sunday at church by their grandmother. She begged Rebekah to take the girls because their mother had died and the grandmother was unable to feed them.

However, there was no room at Mission Moroto at the time because the two new houses were still under construction. Rebekah accepted and their grandmother started weeping and hugging her.

Lois is a very sweet girl and very fond of Pastor Matthew. When he comes to stay at the Mission, she loves to come and sit in his lap. Tabitha is also very sweet and loves to help take care of the younger children at Mission Moroto

Boiyel Abraham

Welcome to the family Boiyel Abraham!

Boiyel is the brother of one of our earlier rescues, Dorothy Lokuge Inowa. Rebekah met their mother when she was visiting their village. Their mother had been horribly beaten by her brother which caused an infection in her broken hip.

Rebekah took her to the hospital and she improved a little but Rebekah was told she has lost complete use of that leg and no longer feed the children.

She begged Rebekah to take Dorothy and she agreed wholeheartedly. Rebekah was not aware that Boiyel was also in need of a home and had been wandering the streets searching for food. Once he finally returned to their grandmother, she brought him to Rebekah and he found his home at Mission Moroto. Rebekah continues to regularly provide any food and supplies she can spare to the mother and the grandmother of these two precious children.

Boiyel is now home at Mission Moroto

Kem & Adome

Kem and his brother Adome were found by one of the Mission Moroto team members lying next to their mothers grave barely clinging to life. The only other people in their village was their blind grandmother and one other very ill person. Kem was unable to walk or crawl due to the sores on his hands and feet from jiggers, a very common parasite in Africa. His Brother, Adome, was extremely ill from malaria and was hardly able to breathe.

As soon as Rebekah was made aware of the situation she borrowed a motorcycle and rushed over as soon as she could. Adome was immediately rushed to the hospital for life saving IV treatment and Kem spent several days under Rebekah’s direct care to carefully and painstakingly remove all the jiggers from his body. This is a very painful and long process but after about two weeks of consistent care and God’s grace, both boys were up and playing with the other children.

They are now two of the happiest and loving children at Mission Moroto.

By the Grace of God and obedient hands, these boys can grow and live in a safe and healthy environment.

Simon Lokong

Simon Lokong came to live at Mission Moroto as a young boy after he lost his father to raiders. Too many have been affected and even devastated by raiders due to the extreme poverty and some whole villages, including Simon’s, have lost almost all their husbands and fathers to this tragedy.

Simon has occasionally returned to his village to visit but has been met with police aggression and threat of death. Little is known about the rest of Simon’s family but he has found a new home and family in Jesus through Mission Moroto. At Mission Moroto, Simon been able to grow and flourish in a safe and loving environment. He is 18 years old and currently attending High School in a neighboring district so that he can have a successful future. Education is a luxury in Moroto and being able to attend school is life changing.

Nawairi Tuliana

STOWAWAY ? Welcome Nawairi Tuliana to our family. When Mama Rebekah returned from the U.S. on February 2nd, she noticed this cute girl among her other pre-teen girls and assumed she was one of the new rescues shortly before she left to the U.S. for Christmas. Finally, the other day, Nawairi sheepishly approached Rebekah and Simon, our project manager, and trembling said, “I must confess, I was all alone and I sneaked into Mission Moroto while you were gone and I felt I should be honest and come forward.” Rebekah smiled broadly and said, “You are already part of our family. Would you like me to take your photo and make it official?” Nawairi threw her arms around Rebekah saying “Yes! Yes!” Welcome home Nawairi. You are greatly loved. ❤
