Mission Moroto Stories – Joseph Lopeyok

I am Joseph Lopeyok.

Our family, we are blessed with three children. I am third born.

As I began to grow I started making charcoal for the survival of the family.

In addition to that I started the life of being a shepherd boy looking for animals which is common for boys in Karamoja. I started school at Nawanatau Primary School in Moroto direction from P.1 to P.3.

In 2018 I went to Pastor Noah’s place to meet and I asked for his help and he told me to water his plants every morning and evening for two weeks and then he told me to come to his home in town on Monday and the next day he took me to Mission Moroto and helped me and introduced me to the organization and included me with the boys being helped there.

I joined Rupa Primary School where the rest of the boys were studying. A month later, I heard that Bill our founder had died. I and the other boys were very sad but we kept on praying to God because we thought no one would help us now that Bill had died. We kept praying and then God sent us Rebekah and all of you to help us and that is my life.

God bless you and Pastor Matt and Mum Lisa, Lopeyok Joseph

Mission Moroto Stories – Paul Maruk

I am Paul Maruk. Our family is blessed with three children. I am second born.

As I grew I began making charcoal for the survival of the family. Later, I joined Archer Primary School for the first half of the first term. I went back to be a boy shepherd herding animals for one year.

Then I went back to the village and spent my time just looking for something to eat because life was very difficult. After that I went back to school my mother died and life was again very difficult.

Then Pastor Noah helped us and built us a semi-permanent house for us to live in. Then Noah brought me to his home in town. Then I stayed in town with Pastor Noah for one year and then he brought me to Mission Moroto in 2016.

At Mission Moroto I was helped as one of the boys being helped there and I joined school and am continuing my studies.

Thank you, Maruk Paul

Mission Moroto Stories – John Lokol

I am Lokol John.

In our family, we are blessed with four children. I am third born.

As I began to grow I started the activity of mining gold near our village as a servant of the family.

In addition to that I started the life of being a shepherd boy looking for animals for one year.

When I started at Rupa Primary School, I was able to only attend for the first term. Because of poverty in the family, I had to drop out.

I started giving all my time to just looking for something to eat because hunger had grown in our family. That made my life and my education difficult.

My village was near Bill’s (Mission Moroto’s late founder) church so I started coming for prayer on Sundays and I joined as a member of the choir for Sunday School.

One day in 2016 I asked Pastor Noah for help and he told me to come to Mission Moroto. I was helped and was included as one of the boys. I helped to go back to school and finish my studies.

Thank you, Lokol John

Mission Moroto Stories – Daniel Loyep

My name is Loyep Daniel. (Pastor Matt calls me “Daniel the Giant” because I am taller than him.)

This is how I got to Mission Moroto (formerly MIPP Homes)

I was taken from the street. My mother chased us three boys from our home because we had no food.

Now Mama Rebekah feeds me and also Papa Noah.

We suffered so in the street but now our sponsors support us as the children of God.

May God bless your support.

Thank you, Loyep Daniel

Mission Moroto Stories – Walter Thomas Lokwii

I am Walter Thomas Lokwii

First and foremost I was a boy shepherd.

The story from my mother is that in 2005 my father died. I continued life with my mother and eldest brother.

In 2014 I joined P.1 at Nadunget Primary School.

In 2015 my mother also died when I was in P.2 and my brother and I remained alone.

In 2019 my grandfather talked to Pastor Noah about me and I was able to join Mission Moroto in 2020. It used to be called Mission Prayer and Praise Home. They took me to study at Rupa Primary School in P.6 but due to the inconvenience of corona virus we cannot attend right now.

Thank you, Lokwii Walter Thomas

Mission Moroto Stories – Gabriel Teko

I am Teko Angel Gabriel and here are some of the unbelievable ways I entered to Mission Moroto

When I came here I had a friend and I was a shepherd boy and I decided to come to Pastor Noah because I had no one to care for me.

I had once attended school but because of lack of money I failed to finish my studies. My parents were making charcoal to survive.

I praised God because he led me to this place and I am now able to go back to school again. I thank God because He brought me here and I know He has a reason for bringing me here.

Thank you! May Almighty God bless all of our donors from America for supporting us. Thank you!

Love, Teko Angel Gabriel

Mission Moroto Stories – Raphael Atol

Dear donors and sponsors, I am Raphael Atol and I send you greetings to the United States and may God bless you all. Here is my story since my birth.

I was two days old when the raiders came and killed my father. My mother was in the house breastfeeding me so we survived. When I was two-years-old my eye became infected and my mother couldn’t find medicine for it. I wanted to die. I lost my eye. She took me to the hospital and I became ok.

My mother would go to the mountains and get firewood to sell to support me. One day she ran into the raiders and was killed. When I was 14-years-old I went to boarding school. I started primary 1 and went through primary 7. My mother died when I was in primary 5 so I had no one to support me with the requirements. Then our donors came and I am now in 8.1 at Nadunget Secondary School. I thank God that he directed our donors from USA and help us in Uganda. We are very happy now in Karamoja. I love being one of the choir directors for the Mission Moroto children’s choir.

When I was two days old I lost my father. I never saw his face. I grew up without a father but now God has become my Father and I have entrusted my life to Him. I thank the people of USA AND MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF THEM AMEN!

Love, Raphael Atol

Mission Moroto Stories – Angel Gabriel Ilukol

I am Angel Gabriel Ilukol from Kaabong District. The story from my mother is that when she was pregnant with me there was no sign of pregnancy. Her stomach was perfectly flat unlike my brothers and sisters when her stomach was very big.

She felt sick and was admitted to the hospital. She grew thin and when the nurses were massaging her stomach they said she had a stomach disease. Later, they realized she was pregnant and they told her that she was going to die or the baby was going to die. By God’s grace I was born and we both lived.

Later, as I grew I felt sick and was admitted to the hospital. My body didn’t have enough blood. They went to all my family but my body rejected all of their blood. The brother of my father was also admitted to the hospital and sacrificed his blood for me. It was a match and I was healed.

Thereafter at home we went to collect Tamarind fruit. I would climb up to the very tips and get the fruit. I was sitting on the highest branch and there was a large stone below and I fell. I was saved by God. Two weeks later, we walked 4 kilometers to a river to fetch water. We were attracted to a fig tree full of fruit down by a pool in the river. 5 of us went down to get the fruit. I climbed up into the tree and began throwing down fruit. Suddenly, a crocodile came up from the pool and shook the tree and I fell but I caught my self on the lowest branch by my right hand. The tree was shaking and I was growing tired of holding on. The water was boiling and went from white to green and then the tree stopped shaking and I was able to grab on with my legs and jump to the river bank.

Thereafter, they took me to herd goats but my heart wasn’t happy as I saw others going to boarding school. I forced myself to go to boarding school and my eldest brother hated me for it and told me not to come back home. It was 2008 when I joined school. The teachers loved me as I was working hard to please them. Even holidays the teachers traded taking me home to stay at their house. I finished my secondary school in 2014 and managed to get 19 aggregates Div II.

I felt again sick with a disease I don’t know what up to now. I kept coughing up blood and was admitted to the hospital and I got healed. A certain soldier wanted to sponsor me but my father refused. He said he already had a sponsor for me from Moroto. I came to Moroto in 2015 and my new sponsor was a white lady named Gabby. She disappeared with my paperwork. I sat at home for 2 years. In 2016 I met Pastor Noah and he told me to come to Rupa. I came and got to meet Bill (now in heaven). Bill was sick so he couldn’t take me in. Noah and Simon told me to go work that land at home and they would work on a way forward for me. In 2017 Noah told me to go join Joseph Longoli and John in school at primary 7 where I managed to get 16 aggregates. Then we joined Nadunget Senior Secondary School in 2018 up to now. That’s why I give thanks and glory to God for the wonderful life He has given me and delivered me from all those former troubles. Thank you, Angel Gabriel Ilukol.

Mission Moroto Stories – John Sugar Lochugae

Hi pastor Matt, here is my story about my life – By John Sugar Lochugae

Our family is bless with ten children and I am the third born. I was not born at exactly time of 9 month as is normal for women, but mine was unexpected at around 7 to 8 months. l grew up not someone very strong. When I was 5yrs, l was introduced to the life of being Shepherd looking after the animals which was a must for every Karamoja boy to do. l did that for 3yrs. When I reach 9yrs, my dad took me to school which l really wanted in my life. l joined Rupa primary school near our village. l studied in that from grade 1 to grade 3, and l was influenced by my friend to join KDA primary school in town, we move from village to school for about 8km. l studied in that school 2011, and in 2012 l went to next class, as we’re studying.

Unfortunately one day, during break first time in school we had a play of score game. We were using stones as goal poles but during the play it happens that they came toward our goal and I wanted to defend the goal. I missed to kick the ball and I fell down badly on stone goal poles on my back. I got up in great pain but I didn’t know that I was injured badly. My hip bone was about to come out of its position. We went back to class and when we came out from class, the pain was increasing from my leg. I started limping when walking. My friend saw me limping and ask me what happened to me. I explained to him. He told me that if it worsened to go back home. The next morning pain was worse, so l when back to the village. l walked for 8km from morning to sun set which increased the pain more. When I reached home, my dad asked me what happened to me from school. I explain to him. The next morning I couldn’t move or walk any more. I just lie in the hut house all day with too much pain in my leg. Because of the poverty that we had in the family, my parents couldn’t afford transport for transporting me to the hospital. Instead, they used a wheel barrow for transporting me to the nearby health center which was about 5km from the village. This also increased the hip bone coming out of joint. On reaching the health center, the nurse attempted to treat me but they couldn’t manage. They transferred me to Moroto Hospital. On reaching there l was admitted. A lot of diseases attacked my body. l started diarrhea. I was feeling pain in my side and my head that made me not want to eat any solid food or even water. It was difficult to take. I developed skin rush. The hip bone was totally out of it position, pain was excruciating. My body grew thin. I went into a comma. No one believed that I will live. My grandma visited me in hospital all she could say was, “If he dies, bring him home. My mother also couldn’t believe I would live. My friends also couldn’t believe. All they could do is to cry when they saw me on the bed. My father could just monitor or check on my heart and eye when I am sleeping. I suffered for three weeks in that condition. When the Sisters of Charity, who use to visit the sick from hospital, saw me lying on the bed, they were surprised to see me. They help me and took me to Matanya Hospital, but even in Matanya Hospital the nurses wouldn’t believe that I was alive. I was treated from Matanya on the diseases in my body but they couldn’t manage to work on my hip bone. I became well but l used crutches or supporters for walking. The doctor told us that I needed big work on my injury, but because of poverty, we had no money for going to big hospital. I was discharged and we came back to Sisters of Charity. We explained to them what they had said, they said that they can’t help us any more, and they took us back to the village. So when I reached the village everybody was surprised to see me. Those who saw me in the hospital and my condition couldn’t believe that it was me. Those who were unaware of my injury would see me on supporters walking and all l could say to them was that I am alive although this happened to me. So I took a year with someone helping me.

after me spending one year in the village without support, my grandmother got connected with other older woman who use to go and pray at Bill’s church at Mission Moroto. My grandmother also joined and attended every Sunday they could go. So one day my grandmother ask me to go with her for prayer at Bill’s church on Sunday. So I agreed on Sunday 2013 February. I went with my grandmother to Bill’s church. We walked about 3km, when we reached the church, Bill came with his boys he lives with, we had prayer. After the service, my grandmother ask Bill with support from pastor Noah to help me. We explained about how I got the injury, my situation, and they told us to come the next Sunday so we went back to the village. The next Sunday, we came for prayers, we had prayer then after the service Bill called us and told us that God had told him to help the boy that was me, my grandmother became so happy and me too. That was the first happiness in my life and it was great news and a smile lit up my face. So Bill took me to his home in town. The next day he took me to Corsu hospital in Entebbe Kampala. I had my first surgery for the replacement for hip bone, but the doctor received the hip bone when it had spoiled and was infected because I declared for one year. So the doctor decided to remove it, so Bill flew back to USA immediately. l was admitted at hospital and spent three weeks then was discharged. I came back home to Bill’s place and stayed there. I started walking without supporters or crutches but I was limping because my left leg was 7cm shorter than the other that makes it difficult in walking. I joined Moroto Municipal Primary School where the rest of the boys were studying in 2013 for grade 3. In around December 2013, Bill came back from USA. He saw the way I was walking and one day Bill ask me that do you want your legs to be the same level as normal? Then I say yes, so he took me back to Corsu hospital for the lengthening of about 7cm from my leg that the second surgery. It made my leg straight that I couldn’t bend it for almost one year, when I was on my treatment. Bill felt sick and he went back to USA for two months and he came back home to live with us. One day, I saw Bill reading a Bible. I thought it was just a book. I went near him and he had me sit down. He explained to me more about Jesus, God, Bible, believing in God, God’s goodness in my life, he even told me that God is the one who told him to help me, so he gave me a Bible he wrote on it, “John this Bible will keep you away from sins or sins will keep you away from the Bible. That night l went to my bed l remembered all the situation l went through and l thanks God for saving my life. I started growing with the word of God in school, home, teaching other boys. I stayed with Bill after the second surgery. I started walking without crushes but my knee was not bending. I was left with one more needed surgery which has not been done to this day. Again Bill felt sick badly, and we kept on praying. He went back to USA in 2016. We stayed with pastor Noah for three years when Bill was sick in USA. We prayed so hard with the boys for Bill’s life but in 2019, Bill died. I thought there no more life for me until Rebekah came to help us. I was naturally gifted with talents of running, playing soccer games, jumping, but I got injured at earliest age of 10yrs so it has spoiled it all. But we are back alive with Rebekah here and you too. Your love, help, kindness… We love you. Please share with the rest of the people my story, thanks, God bless you

The Greatest Adventure In The World

THE GREATEST ADVENTURE IN THE WORLD IS…

OBEYING JESUS’S COMMAND TO

“GO!”

Matt. 22:9 ‘Go therefore to the main highways, and as many as you find there, invite to the wedding feast.’

Matt. 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

Mark 5:19 “Go home to your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you.”

Mark 16:15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

Luke 10:3 “Go; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.”

Luke 10:37 And he said, “The one (good Samaritan) who showed mercy toward him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do the same.”

Luke 14:23 ‘Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled.’

[clear]

Wonderfully, Jesus doesn’t ask us to go alone. Rather, He says that we will be going “for” Him (John 20:21), we will be going “with” Him (Mt. 28:20), and we will be going “to” Him (Mt. 25:40)

[clear]

A primary mission of this ministry is…

to ignite a passion in people for Jesus’s mission among the nations

and provide opportunities for them to go.

[quote author=”- James S. Stewart” type=”static”]“The concern for world evangelization is not something tacked on to a man’s personal Christianity, which he may take or leave as he chooses. It is rooted in the character of the God who has come to us in Christ Jesus. Thus, it can never be the province of a few enthusiasts, a sideline or a specialty of those who happen to have a bent that way. It is the distinctive mark of being a Christian.”[/quote]

Mission Moroto Sponsorship

“Second only to prayer, sponsors are our greatest need at Mission Moroto.

The Wheelbarrow

Sponsors are monthly supporters who help us to love, provide for, and protect the orphans God has put in our care at Mission Moroto.

Sponsors keep the orphanage running and so much more. You can send and receive letters to “your child” and send gifts periodically with missions teams that carry items to the children on mission trips and even visit your child on a mission trip. We will keep you updated with a prayer card for your refrigerator, a periodic newsletter, photos of your child and more.

To meet their monthly needs of food, housing, education, and medical care, not to mention love and spiritual training, requires $70.00 per child per month. To make it more affordable we have sponsorships at $35 a month and pray for 2 sponsors for each child. For those who are able to give $70.00 per month they can fully sponsor a child. Some choose to set up bill pay through their bank, others send a monthly check, others send a year’s support at one time, and still others choose to set up a monthly debit/credit card payment by clicking on the PayPal button below and following the steps laid out.

By mail or bill pay send checks made out to:

God’s Heart For The Orphan

“Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means

caring for orphans and widows in their distress…” – James 1:27

[smartslider3 slider=”2″]

Miracles in MorotoThere is a special place in the heart of God for the fatherless. Nearly 50 times the Bible mentions orphans and how the people of God should respond to them. The Old Testament is rife with promises, commands, and warnings from God to His people regarding their treatment of orphans. As we follow the ministry of Jesus in the gospels we see the heart of God displayed again as Jesus holds children and blesses them, takes a child and stands him among the disciples as a reminder of how we are to interact with one another, and so on. In our travels we have seen Jesus in the faces of many beautiful, sweet, lonely orphans and we have felt the heartbeat of God throbbing in our breasts as well. Surely our Heavenly Father, the Lord Jesus, and the sweet Holy Spirit are grieved and broken hearted over the plight of millions of orphans in our world today. By His grace Mission Critical is doing something about it. Praise God! In the month of March, 2021 by His grace alone we have rescued 7 orphans 4 of which would be dead in just a short time had the Lord not led us to them.

Another passage that really shows the heart of God regarding orphans is found in Job 29-31. Job was a godly man. Just listen to God’s description of him in chapter 1 verse 8, The LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.” Wow! What an amazing accolade from the Almighty!

In Job 29:2-11 He tells us some things about His relationship with God that ought to make us sit up and take notice. He says…

God watched over me… His lamp shone over my head… by His light I walked through darkness… the friendship of God was over my tent… the Almighty was yet with me…

Then Job goes on in verses 12-17 to tell us why he was so blessed…

Because I delivered the poor who cried for help, and the orphan who had no helper. The blessing of the one ready to perish came upon me, and I made the widow’s heart sing for joy. I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; My justice was like a robe and a turban. I was eyes to the blind and feet to the lame. I was a father to the needy, and I investigated the case which I did not know. I broke the jaws of the wicked and snatched the prey from his teeth.

Job’s wonderful relationship with God resulted from his faithfulness to God’s own passion for diligently ministering to the poor, needy, widow, orphan, lame, and blind. He defended those who were being mistreated and punished the predators. Job lived God’s and our vision for orphan ministry.

We get another glimpse of Job’s passion for the orphan in Job 31:16-22 where he says very passionately… “If I have kept the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail, or have eaten my food alone, and the orphan has not shared it (yet from his youth the orphan grew up with me as with a father, and from infancy I guided her), If I have seen anyone perish for lack of clothing, or that the needy had no covering, if his stomach has not thanked me, and if he has not been warmed with the fleece of my sheep, if I have lifted up my hand against the orphan, because I saw I had support in the community, let my shoulder fall from the socket, and my arm be broken off at the elbow.”

Job was very serious about caring for the poor and needy, the orphan and the widow. He is a great example to us.

Over the last 12 years God has performed a mighty work through our Orphan Project in Colombia, South America. We have been blessed to feed, clothe, love, and most importantly share the love of Jesus in word and deed with hundreds of lonely Colombian orphans. We have made nearly 30 short-term mission trips there and have facilitated over 35 children being adopted into Christian families in the U.S. and the doors have never been open wider.

In 2020 God blessed us with our own orphanage in Moroto, Uganda with 50 Karamojong bush children. www.missionmoroto.org

Ugandan Orphan’s Miracle Story

My story of what God did in my life when you pray while your in problems of poverty. – By Kerisa Paul Mickey

My name is Kerisa Paul Mickey. I am 18-years-old and I am an orphan without parents. When my parents were still alive they used to go and cut firewood and sell to pay my school fees. I was the only one who wanted to study in our home. All my brothers and sisters were not studying due to lack of money for school fees so my parents can afford only to pay me for the little they get from firewood. At times they could not pay me when they have not gone for firewood because they lack money for taking me to school.

In 2011 my eldest brother died so at that time we had nothing to do so I could come back from school and remain at home because my parents were poor they lack money for taking me to school. I stay at home for 4 years without schooling. At that time my parents were shot using a gun so they died and we remain in our house as three in number so we could not do anything by our own. Then a dream came to me thinking of what we are to eat since I was the biggest of the two I decided also to go for firewood in order to sell and get money for our survival. My younger brother became sick more for even the hospital was far. I decided to carry him on my back up to the hospital to get treatment and he recovered two months and then died. I was very weak. I buried him. Then the people of our village helped with some food to eat. Now two of my brothers have gone to my hurt so I remained alone.

In a few days I went also to town to look for some work to do for survival. I got the work and where to sleep and was praying hard. I said, “God, Your the One Who knows everything in my life. During Sunday I could go to Rupa Christian Fellowship (the church at Mission Moroto) That was 2013 and when I came back from prayers I could do housework for the woman I was staying with but all those people don’t pray so when I would come home from church they would quarrel with me. I keep on praying until I was taken to their far village where people are busy on only doing the works. I had no way of praying so I decided to create my own church and I called small children around there and I taught them how to sing gospel songs and how to pray. All children were used to me doing this. It reached a time when that woman and her husband quarreled hard and beat me wrongly because of praying.

One day the demons they came and attacked the woman and she ran mad. The husband call me to sing some gospel songs and praise. I was wondering, “What is going on!” because the man had never like me anyhow. Then I came to know that the demons had attacked the woman so I prayed deeply for the woman. In fact this woman removed all the clothes she wore and was running naked so I prayed and I started singing. Immediately this woman was healed in God’s will. Because if you pray with all your might, soul, and your body, God will answer. Your prayer therefore there’s nothing which defeats God when you pray. Then we started praying together with the family members and we started going to church together. A few days later I dreamed that I was praising the gospel of God with many others and so that dream came true.

I met Pastor Noah Ewaru (Current pastor of Mission Moroto) and Bill Behrmann (late founder of Mission Moroto) and we were praying all that period of time. One day they asked me, “Are you schooling?” I said to them that I had been to school 5 years ago but now I am not schooling due to problems I had. Then another man came to our home and told me his son loves me as his best friend and that he wants to meet with me. I went there and they told me to stay with them because of the son’s love for me. They also desired to take me back to school. I spent two years schooling then they stopped paying school fees so I was chased from school because of the fees so I went home. I had nothing to do.

Suddenly I prayed for awhile. One of my friends at school told me that the teachers were conducting a meeting to see if they could let me keep schooling for free do potential they saw in me. It reached a time when we sat for PLE exams. The result was that the head teacher refused to give me the recommendation because I had not paid. I was told to pay 170,000 Shillings in order to get in. I had nothing to do. I went to look for work outside school so I could afford to get the money for the recommendation. Now joining highschool became a problem so I left school and had nowhere to go, stay, or sleep. Later a big friend of mine who was married took me to stay with him. We prayed even though we were different religions. We prayed concerning my future. On Sundays I could go to Rupa Christian Fellowship. Eventually I started preaching and sharing with others. People were wondering about my preaching because I preached as if I had the training of being a pastor. Until now I am still serving God and I want to continue serving Him until the end of my life because He picked me up from was dark but now I have shine. Glory be to Him. With prayer, everything is possible. Now a days I lead the evening praise, worship, and preaching every other evening at Mission Moroto. Thank you Mama Rebekah.

3 Languages At Once!

Last week, in Abim, Uganda, was my first time preaching with two interpreters. The sermon went out in three languages at once! The Holy Spirit helped us so much the people loved it! I Preached all day as requested and it felt like five minutes.?

Finally Headed To Uganda!

Praise the Lord! We have been trying to get to Uganda since May 2020. We have had to reschedule more than once for COVID-19 and political unrest in Uganda but the day has finally arrived. There is still political unrest there since their presidential election on Thursday. Internet is down there but unrest is in the major cities and we will be in the bush.

We fly out tonight at 8:40 pm and can’t wait to get onto African soil again. We are blessed to be taking 380 lbs of gifts, backpacks, and school supplies you’ve generously donated for the kids of Mission Moroto.

We will assess the long-term needs of the orphanage while staying there to help Rebekah get ready for her life mission. Matt will be preaching in several cities and teaching his Supernatural Secrets discipleship training as well.

We return to the U.S. on February 2nd and will have lots of exciting updates for you. Rebekah moves back there full-time on February 23rd. Your prayers and support are enormously appreciated. You can keep updated at www.facebook.com/missionmoroto and www.missionmoroto.org
