Upcoming Events

I thought that my life would slow down slightly after the vacation host program but I have been running harder than ever before. God is moving on so many fronts that my head is spinning. We have many exciting things coming up for Orphan Hope that we would love for you to pray with us about and join in as the Lord leads you.

Missionaries

Our missionaries are getting closer every day to being able to head to Colombia. They are working on VISAs and insurance and so on. Chris had a wonderful benefit dinner last weekend and raised about 6 months worth of support. We are so happy for him and his folks. They have been a blessing to watch and we are excited that they are going to be even more involved with OHI as we go forward.

Vacation Host

The 2011 summer vacation host program is bearing wonderful fruit. Several families are moving forward with adoptions and Padrino relationships. Please contact me at 832-359-9781 if you know someone who may be interested in older child adoption.

Vision Trip

53 days and counting to our church leadership vision trip to Colombia. Please contact me at 832-359-9781 if you know someone in church leadership who may be interested in this trip. The dates are October 22-28, 2011.

Share The Hope

72 days and counting to our 2nd annual Share The Hope fundraising dinner at Westland Baptist Church on November 11, 2011. Please mark your calendars and join us for a wonderful evening.

Mission Trip

137 days and counting to our January mission trip. We will have solid dates and links to sign up very soon. Don’t miss this exciting God adventure into the fields of the fatherless.

Marathon

165 days and counting to our first annual Orphan Hope Marathon. Jenn Burton and the team are working very hard to make this a wonderful event to raise money for Bogota safe houses. For more info contact Jenn at 832-449-0309. Also you can keep up on Facebook by “liking” our page.

Please continue to pray for the presence of God in this ministry as we watch him transform the lives of orphans and those ministering to them.

Quest to know Him

Well as you all can see I have made some changes to me blog. 🙂 I am going to LA at the end of September but my sisters are not abel or ready at this time to come with me but I know that God has given me this incredible opportunity to serve Him and share His father’s heart to those that are hurting in Inner-City LA. The passoin of my heart is to know my Savior for who He really is, not who everyone say He is, but that I would know for myself who Jesus is. So that consuming desire sent me on a quest to know Jesus’s heart. To know someone you must find out what they are passionate about and what they spend their time doing. My first glimpse of the true Jesus of the Bible was through missionary biographies and reading the Gospels and Acts. I found that Jesus’s passion was for people. He gave up everything we call dear and spent His hole life serving and loving others. But my first experience of Jesus’s heart was on my first mission trip to Colombia, it was the first time I was abel to know Jesus’s love for the broken hearted and know He was hurting over their pain. I had read about it in those Missionary biographies but now I was the one cry with them and knowing Jesus was crying through me. I am now hook was my Dad would say 🙂 and loving every minute of being Jesus’s hands and feet.

Texas Vacation Host Program 2011

I have been so busy with our first ever TVHP that I haven’t blogged in a while. It was a wonderful program and the hand of God was evident upon it at every turn. We had multiple events and lots of fun with our 19 Colombian guest while they were here.

There are too many sweet moments to tell about them all but suffice it to say that we were all moved, touched and changed by these sweet children and by the knowledge of their aloneness in the world.

The happiest part is that we know that several, if not all, of them have found a forever family!

There are not enough words to share how wonderful the entire team was that put this program together from OHI, Grace Fellowship UMC, Katy, the host families, the translators, the Grace Fellowship small groups, the Colombian chaperones and our alliance partner Tayakai and on and on. It was a wonderful thing to see so many people working together so smoothly and harmoniously. What a monument to the grace of God upon this whole program.

It was a bitter/sweet tearful goodbye at the airport as we said goodbye to our little friends but definitely not for the last time 🙂

Below are some fun pics from different events.
